It’s mission accomplished for a campaign to reunite the man who sold the very first Mustang which Ford ever produced.
Harry Phillips sold the first Ford Mustang in St. John’s back in 1964. That vehicle now sits in the Henry Ford Museum, with its Newfoundland license plate still intact.
Recently a campaign was launched called Send Harry to Henry, to help get Phillips, who is almost 85, to the museum to see his car for the first time since he sold it.
Scott Halliday had always been disappointed that Phillips had never been recognized as such, but now he will be – and in Dearborne, Michigan. Halliday says all the details will come down at a news conference Thursday in St. John’s. Halliday says Mayor Danny Breen will be on hand to make a special announcement.
He says Phillips and his granddaughter are not only going to the Henry Ford Museum, but will see all their facilities plus given a tour of the plant where that first Mustang was assembled.
