An outspoken critic of the Muskrat Falls project is weighing in with his thoughts on the Greene Report’s recommendation to fold Nalcor.
Ron Penney, who is a former public servant at both the municipal and provincial level, says he supports the concept.
He was never in favour of the province getting into the oil and gas industry, calling it “foolish” and “risky.”
Penney says it’s already proven risky with a downturn in the oil and gas industry. The future of the West White Rose project remains uncertain, meaning the public money invested in that project could be lost.
He believes dismantling Nalcor is the way to go.
Penney says “Nalcor has been a disaster for this province,” and that it should be folded into NL Hydro since Muskrat Falls is almost complete, and get out of oil and gas which he believes will save a lot of money.
