Contact tracing has begun related to a presumptive positive case of COVID-19 linked to Belanger Memorial School in Doyles on the province’s west coast.
Close contacts, including school cohorts, are being identified and tested.
Families who have been affected have been notified and all close contacts have been asked to self-isolate while testing is arranged.
Public Health officials say at this time there is no evidence of widespread community transmission in the area.
Three Cases Confirmed
Meanwhile, there are three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported today.
Two are in the Western Health region and one is in Eastern Health. Two are related to travel within Canada while the third is a close contact of a previous case.
There are three new recoveries, with 67 active cases in the province, including one person in hospital.
A previous case—reported on Saturday, May 8 in the Western Health region—has been deemed to be a contact of a previous case.
Public Health is asking passengers who traveled on Air Canada Flight 7540 from Toronto to Deer Lake on Thursday, May 6 to arrange COVID-19 testing.
To arrange testing, passengers can complete the province’s online self-assessment and referral tool or call 811.
