There are seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today.
Four are in the Eastern Health region and three are in Central Health. Two cases in the Eastern Health region are close contacts of previous cases, while the rest are related to travel within Canada.
There are six new recoveries leaving 82 active cases. There is no one in hospital with the virus.
Passengers on board two recent flights to the province are being asked to contact Public Health to arrange for testing.
They include:
- Air Canada Flight 8016 that departed Montreal and arrived in St. John’s on Tuesday, May 11.
- Air Canada Flight 7540 that departed Toronto and arrived in Deer Lake on Tuesday, May 11.
Meanwhile, The Department of Health and Community Services is advising rotational workers about identified COVID outbreaks at worksites in Alberta.
They are:
- CIVEO Athabasca Lodge
- Energy Transfer Canada Kaybob South 3 Processing Plant
- RCCC West Kakwa Lodge
- Tamarack Valley Energy Drilling Rig Nipisi
- Wapasu Creek Lodge
Workers with those projects who have returned to Newfoundland and Labrador in the last two weeks must self-isolate and physically distance away from household members and call 811 for testing.
Those workers must complete the full 14-day self-isolation period regardless of their test result.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Court has suspended travel for the May circuit court in Port aux Basques due to the region moving into Alert Level 4.
Cases set to be heard from Wednesday, May 19 to and including May 21 will proceed virtually if possible.
