Five teams in St. John’s are participating in Food First NL’s inaugural Kickstarter.
The Kickstarter brings five innovator teams to try and address the issue of food security in St. John’s.
The teams include food businesses Big Feed Club and Afro Kitchen, technology for a Fish Market App, and nonprofits NL Eats and Wellness Collective. Teams will create a 2-minute pitch video sharing their vision for food action in the capital city.
A panel of judges, including St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen, will award the prizes. First place will receive $3,000 and second place will receive $1,500. A Youth Innovator Award of $500 will also be handed out.
People can vote to award a “People’s Choice” prize through online voting, which opens today and closes Tuesday when the winners will be announced.
Details on how to vote can be found on Food First NL’s social media accounts.
