The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador has donated $1,020 to Special Olympics in this province.
The money was raised through the national RCMP Law Enforcement Torch Run Challenge called “Oceans 13.”
Teams from across the country were required to log 15,000 kms of physical activity, and the team from this province crossed the finish line first.
Andrew Hynes is a Special Olympics athlete from this province, and he will be travelling to Russia as part of the final leg of the torch run.
Hynes says it is amazing to see the money go to Special Olympics, noting the impact the organization has had on his life.
He says he’s excited to represent the province in Russia. “Let’s go,” says Hynes, who says he has been working really hard.
