The City of St. John’s and Eastern Health are moving forward with public consultations after signing a Memorandum of Understanding on a 10-year “Healthy City Strategy.”
Mayor Danny Breen and Eastern Health President and CEO David Diamond signed the MOU at City Hall, officially kicking off a four-week public engagement process to help inform the final draft of the strategy.
The strategy aligns existing plans and initiatives with health and wellness goals, to make St. John’s a healthier and more livable city for everyone.
Mayor Breen says through this partnership with Eastern Health, they will collaborate with health experts who will help guide the development and implementation of the strategy and resulting programs and services.
David Diamond says with the 10-year strategy they are committed to finding solutions that will improve health outcomes for residents and enable them to take steps to improve the overall health of the population.
Mayor Breen ended the announcement with a question to the public: “What healthy community assets exist in your neighbourhood and where are the gaps?” pleading to the public to join the public engagement process.
