Residents are now free to travel in Buchans following a forest fire in the area.
The town had been asking people to stay at home as crews were still working to extinguish hot spots near the road. However, the town now says that the water bomber has left and residents can travel freely.
Residents were evacuated from their homes and power was cut to the community yesterday as the fire was burning near a power substation.
A representative from the provincial forestry department described the fire as significant, however with favourable conditions in the forecast the department was confident the situation could be brought under control.
Meanwhile, the town is recognizing the hospitality of a local woman yesterday.
In a post to Facebook, the town says Buchans Junction resident Rose Boone invited evacuated residents back to her house for hot dogs and hamburgers as they waited for over five hours to return home.
