The provincial government has a new tool to help people stay informed when it comes to forest fire risk.

The province has a new Fire Hazard Map that is updated daily and shows the fire hazard risk for various parts of the province.

The supervisor of industry services with the department responsible, Mark Lawlor, says it is a handy way for people who are camping or working outdoors to know whether it’s safe to have a fire.

Once the index reaches very high or extreme, you are not allowed to have an open fire.
