The provincial government has announced the members of the All-Party Committee to modernize the province’s Elections Act.
The committee will be chaired by Justice Minister John Hogan and includes Liberals, Steve Crocker, Lisa Dempster, Sarah Stoodley, and Brian Warr.
It also includes Opposition members Barry Petten, Helen Conway Ottenheimer, and Lela Evans, as well as Independent MHA Perry Trimper.
The NDP had previously indicated that it would not participate in the committee, a process the party dismissed as merely “window dressing.”
Chair John Hogan says the committee will rely heavily on the experience of voters as it suggests amendments to the 30-year-old Elections Act.
A public engagement process will be announced in the coming weeks.
The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for mid-June.
