About 90,000 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have appointments booked to receive their COVID vaccine in the coming weeks.
That’s according to Health Minister John Haggie, who claims that if all those people show up for their appointments, the province will reach the threshold of 75 per cent of the eligible population with one dose of the vaccine.
Further, Haggie explains that government is confident that with the current capacity for vaccine deliveries, they can soon start bumping up some of the second dose appointments scheduled for late July and August.
He says currently just over two per cent of the population is fully vaccinated, and he believes that as a “stretch goal” 40 per cent of the population could be fully vaccinated by the end of July.
