The Department of Health has made some significant Alert Level changes for regions at the heart of recent COVID-19 outbreaks.
As of today, communities from Lewisporte to Summerford are being reduced to Alert Level 3.
That includes Sandy Cove, Laurenceton, Burnt Arm, Brown’s Arm, Porterville, Stanhope, Lewisporte, Embree, Little Burnt Bay, Michael’s Harbour, Campbellton, Comfort Cove-Newstead, Loon Bay, Baytona, Birchy Bay, Boyd’s Cove, Norris Arm North, Norris Arm South, Sandy Point, Summerford and Cottlesville.
All other communities in the region along the Trans-Canada Highway from Gambo to Badger have returned to Alert Level 2. That includes communities along Routes 320, 330, 350, and most nearby branches.
While the source of the outbreak has not yet been identified, Public Health has deemed the risk to be low.
Meanwhile, the area under Alert Level 4 in Western Health has been expanded to include towns and communities along Route 403—such as Flat Bay, St. Theresa’s, and Journois.
That’s in addition to the communities already under Alert Level 4—St. George’s, Stephenville Crossing, Stephenville, Port au Port East, all towns along the Port au Port Peninsula, and those along Routes 460, 461, 462, 463, and 490.
