It’s official, Harry Phillips is going to Henry at the end of September to visit the most important car he ever sold, the first Ford Mustang, right here in Newfoundland.
84-year-old Harry Phillips is making the trek to Dearborne, Michigan on September 27 to visit the Henry Ford Museum to see the car for the first time since he sold it. Family and friends gathered at the Guv’nor Inn where Mayor Danny Breen made the announcement.
Phillips sold the first Mustang in St. John’s back in 1964 to Captain Stanley Tucker.
Scott Halliday, who has been a big driver of being Harry to Henry says
“This isn’t a mustang story, it isn’t an automobile story, it’s a Newfoundland story”

Three companies came forward out of the goodness of their hearts months ago when the campaign first started to cover the costs of the trip.
The Guv’nor, Turbo Tech Auto and H&H Auto all stepped up to the plate to cover airfare and accommodations. His daughter, who started the campaign will also make the trip when Harry goes to Henry.
Phillips says when it all started he had no idea it would get to this, and says he can’t believe it.
He’s looked at the car on the internet many times since, dreaming of one day being reunited. Now that dream is becoming a reality.
