The provincial government has released the report on the Statutory Review of the province’s Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Some 150 recommendations and suggestions have been made to help improve access and transparency.
Among the key recommendations are changes to internal administrative procedures, the development of a regulatory oversight regime for political parties, and provisions that would see more public bodies being subject to complete privacy assessment on the programs and services they provide.
One of the recommendations recommends increased transparency and oversight of Nalcor even as the provincial government has launched a review of the corporation amid suggestions that the entity be dismantled.
