A man who has lived with a disability his whole life is speaking out about how his disability does not define him as a person.
Sheldon Crocker grew up in a small community in the 70s and 80s. He says he was bullied for being different but he did not let that stop him from developing and living with his disability.
Crocker has a physical disability called arthrogryposis, which causes the lack of muscular development and growth.
When he was young, he was not designed to crawl but he figured out ways to overcome obstacles.
As Crocker grew older, he battled addictions and overcame them. He is now a public speaker, a member of the Positive Thinkers Club and part of the Merb’ys with the Beard and Mustache Club.
Crocker says he does not have “quit” in his vocabulary.
He says one of the reasons why he speaks out is to make a difference in someone’s life, an opportunity that wasn’t there for him when he was younger. He wants to help others and help people to stand up and say who they are without being ashamed or afraid.
Crocker is speaking at the Bella Vista tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
