There is one new case of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador today. The case is travel-related.
There have been seven new recoveries since yesterday, leaving 35 active cases in the province. Currently, no one is in hospital due to the virus.
Yesterday, the province entered the transition phase of its reopening plan, titled ‘Together. Again.’, easing outdoor restrictions within the province. Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says community fireworks, parades, and outdoor ceremonies are allowed with social distancing. The capacity of outdoor gatherings is now 150 people.
Dr. Fitzgerald says the province will reopen to the Atlantic Bubble at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23.
There are no self-isolation requirements if travellers are asymptomatic, have not travelled outside of Atlantic Canada, and have not been in contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19.
Residents of the Atlantic provinces will need to fill out a form prior to travel, and show identification at their point of entry.
Dr. Fitzgerald says any resident of Atlantic Canada who arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador before the bubble opens and meets the criteria can leave self-isolation once the special measures order takes effect on June 23.
