Fire crews made quick work of a kitchen fire in Paradise last evening.
Platoon Chief Dean Foley, with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, says they received a call shortly before 5:00 p.m. of a fire in the kitchen of a home on Atlantica Drive.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found fire in the kitchen and the home full of smoke. The fire was quickly knocked down, but not before the fire and firefighting efforts caused significant damage to the kitchen. The remainder of the home suffered smoke and water damage.
One man suffered burns to his hands as he attempted to stifle the fire.
Some fire equipment had difficulty accessing the scene, as Thorburn Road was blocked nearby due to a downed powerline caused by a single-vehicle crash.
