A local man is getting plenty of attention for his efforts in cleaning up ponds on the Avalon Peninsula.
Eugene Hynes started taking his kayak out and cleaning up debris found in the water.
He did six or seven ponds himself, and was eventually joined by a co-worker which is how Avalon Pond Clean-Up began.
Hynes has picked up everything from broken glass to some more unusual items.
As previously reported by VOCM News, they found a woman’s purse last year that had been stolen 17 years earlier.
They even managed to get the purse back to its rightful owner.
