The Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove insists they’re not gloating, but they do have a message for the Town of Torbay: “Thanks for coming out.”
The former recently beat out the latter in a contest sponsored by the Landscape NL Horticultural Association.
The Forgotten Corner project aims to spruce up a bland or neglected area of a town while increasing the profile of the association.
And while it may not have been the Regatta, Deputy Mayor James Cadigan says the victory was sweet nonetheless. He says the competition goes far deeper than just this contest, given the sporting rivalries between the two towns over the years. But on a serious note, he said it was a great thing to have Landscape NL in town beautifying a section of the community.
The previously forgotten corner is at the intersection of Lower Cove and Outer Cove Road near Savage Creek.
The winner was chosen after submissions from the towns were received and reviewed by a committee. The public was then invited to vote through social media.
The Town of Bay Bulls won the first contest in 2019.
