A business in Donovan’s Industrial Park suffered significant damage due to a difficult fire that broke out early Tuesday evening.
Crews with St. John’s Regional responded to Signature Kitchens and Baths on Lintrose Place at around 4:45 p.m.
Firefighters initially gained access to the building through its doors. However, due to the structure being made of metal, firefighters could only get 10 to 12 feet inside before having to leave due to the extreme heat.

The building stores many wooden cabinets and other flammable materials—such as paint and varnish—also contributing to the scale of the fire.
To combat this, crews made use of a piercing nozzle, which can puncture through the metal siding and get water directly on the flames, as well as a blitz nozzle which doesn’t need to be manned. They also cut ventilation holes in the building, but were unable to access the roof due to safety concerns.
There are no reported injuries and the fire is contained.
