The CNIB Foundation says even though it’s the law right across Canada, guide dogs are still being blocked from entry to businesses.
This is Guide Dog Awareness Month.
Spokesperson Debbie Ryan says all ten provinces and three territories have legislation in place that prohibits discrimination against a person with a disability who is working with a guide dog, yet they still encounter problems.
She says they’ve had guide dogs blocked from entering restaurants.
Ryan says they’ve even had some situations where police were called, yet enforcement officials still sided with the business owner.
