For the students of Bishop Feild Elementary in the capital city’s downtown, this is the second back to school season outside their normal digs.
The student body, made up of just under 300 students, has been accommodated at the old School for the Deaf on Topsail Road since a portion of the school’s plaster and lathe ceiling crashed to the gym floor in October of 2017.
Parent rep on the school council Rhona Buchan says they’re very much looking forward to returning to their historic downtown school building early in the new year if all goes according to plan.
She says they’re really impressed with the work now underway.
Buchan says while they’re into their second year outside the school, the connection to the building remains strong.
She indicates there’s a vibrancy surrounding the school that united the school community.
