An MHA in central Newfoundland is looking for answers as to why the new long-term care home in Grand Falls-Windsor is not yet open.
Chris Tibbs, the MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor-Buchans, says they desperately need the facility to be open as people are lined up for it. He says they have people in hospital beds sleeping in the emergency room at the hospital, part of the backlog.
The facility was sanctioned four years ago and the time for excuses has passed he says.
He has heard that it’s because of COVID as the building itself is ready, but COVID should no longer be used as an excuse for delaying such things as the opening of a health facility.
