Local outfitters are finally seeing a positive turnaround after what has been a devastating couple of seasons.
When the pandemic struck, the local outfitter industry was shut down overnight.
The industry caters almost exclusively to national and international customers who travel to Newfoundland and Labrador—and with travel restrictions in place, the impact was immediate and lasting.
Now that travel restrictions have eased both nationally and internationally, local outfitters are finally seeing an increase in business.
Executive Director of the NL Outfitters Association, Cory Foster says things are looking up for the fall season.
While things are not completely back to normal, Foster says many outfitters have the opportunity to see up to 70 to 80 per cent of their business return.
