Ahead of the long Labour Day weekend, Canadian Blood Services is making a plea for donations.
Gord Skiffington, Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services in St. John’s, says heading into the last long weekend of the summer many people are looking to get out and enjoy themselves, and might not be thinking about blood donation.
Skiffington says with more people out on the highways the need for blood always increases.
According to Skiffington, the need is always there. Canadian Blood Services need all blood types every day of the year. He explains that right now they have about a five-day supply of 0 negative blood, which is universal, but they need to have a 5-8 day supply of blood products in order to meet anticipated hospital demand.
