RCMP are investigating after the sudden death of a 29-year-old whose body was found in a home in Happy Valley-Goose Bay yesterday.

Diem Saunders, formerly known as Delilah Saunders, was the sister of Loretta Saunders who was murdered in Halifax in 2015 by a couple who were subletting her apartment.

Saunders was an outspoken advocate for justice for Loretta and was an active participant in protests seeking fairness for Indigenous people living downstream from the Muskrat Falls project.

Police say residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area of Mesher Street as the investigation continues.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is also involved in the ongoing investigation.
