The federal election has yet to be called, but the parties are ramping up.
The writ has to be dropped by Sunday, September 15, with speculation that it may be called on Monday, Thursday or next weekend.
Political pundit and pollster Tim Powers told the VOCM Morning show that polls suggest it will be a tight race.
The latest polls show a competitive election. Abacus data has the Conservatives at 34 per cent, Liberals at 33, the NDP at 17 and the Greens at nine.
Powers says indications are the NDP, under Jagmeet Singh, is struggling especially with a surge in popularity for the Green Party.
He says as of Wednesday, the NDP had 186 candidates in place—way behind the Liberals and Conservatives.
