Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are once again required to wear masks in indoor public spaces.
The new Special Measures Order came into effect as of midnight last night and applies to a wide variety of public spaces, similar to measures previously in place.
That includes all public transit, including taxis, retail businesses, restaurants, bars and lounges, community centres, arenas and sports facilities, common areas of an office building or hotel/motel/bed and breakfast, churches, funeral homes, cinemas, theatres, clubhouses, museums, and dance and yoga studios.
In terms of schools and post-secondary institutions, the mandatory mask requirement will be the same as it was before the mandatory mask mandate was lifted.
Masks are required in all post-secondary institutions and on school buses and all common areas in a school. Students in grades 4 to 12 and all staff are required to wear masks at all times while in school, which is the same policy that was in place last year.
