Newfoundland and Labrador has managed to keep its health care costs level despite an increase in services, and is one of the only jurisdictions in Canada to do so.
That’s according to Health Minister John Haggie.
He says although not necessarily a fair comparison given our challenging geography, if you look at the figures on the cost of health care per capita, the figures have remained constant since 2016.
If the graphs stay the same, by 2025 we will have the lowest cost per capita for health care in Canada among the provinces. If you go by territories, according to Haggie, we’re already there.
