RCMP have finally caught up with a man who allegedly sped away from them not once but twice.
Police attempted to pull over a car in Bay Roberts on August 14 but they say he took off through the town at a very high rate of speed. The very next day, RCMP flashed the lights at the same driver but he was operating a different vehicle. They say he hit the gas pedal, going through the parking lot of the Bay Roberts Mall at a high rate of speed and in a dangerous manner.
In neither case did police pursue the man.
Their investigation resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Tyler Barnes of Makinsons. He has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with two counts of flight from police and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Officers have since seized his vehicle.
Barnes was released to appear in provincial court in Harbour Grace on Oct. 23.
