Back to school means back to coughs and colds for many families, but it’s also a time for the spread of more serious illnesses.
Labrador-Grenfell Health is reminding families to make sure students are up to date on their vaccines to prevent the spread of illnesses like Chickenpox.
The common childhood ailment comes with symptoms including fever, headache, body aches and a rash. While usually mild, it can be more severe if contracted by infants or pregnant women who have not previously had the illness.
Children with suspected chickenpox should see a doctor and stay away from school or daycare.
