VOCM Cares hosted two successful radiothons on the west coast yesterday, raising much-needed funds to help local health care foundations.
Over $52,000 dollars was raised for the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre Foundation in Port aux Basques through a radio-thon hosted by the VOCM Cares Foundation. The provincial government provided an additional $50,000 dollars raising the total to over $100,000 dollars.
The money will be used for the purchase of critical care monitoring equipment for use in the ER and Acute Care departments.
Meanwhile more than $36,000 dollars was raised for the purchase of an EKG medical cart, bladder scanner and bariatric bed at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville. The provincial government is kicking in an additional $50,000 dollars for a total of more than $86,000 dollars.
