A Memorial University political scientist agrees that something needs to be done to address third party “push polling” during an election campaign.
Liberal Gerry Byrne was very vocal following the election about robocalls made to electors during the campaign from a group known as NL Strong.
A former provincial PC Party staffer, Devin Drover, was linked to the group, but the local PC Party says it had nothing to do with them.
Kelly Blidook, a Political Scientist, says the Premier had the opportunity to address electoral reform and could have done more.
He says the current rules on campaigns allow that kind of thing, and should be fixed. He says the Liberals didn’t deliver on their promise of electoral reform in the last term.
