The forecast is calling for mudslinging, as this federal election is looking like its going to get dirty fast.
The Liberals and Conservatives are beginning the campaign in a statistical tie, according to some polls.
Voters are waiting to hear campaign hopefuls weigh in on the issues, whatever they may be.
Pollster Tim Powers says we can expect Canadian values to be among the hot topics, with Conservatives hoping to outline the litany of scandals the Trudeau government has weathered, and the Liberals raising red flags on Scheer’s questionable record on LGBT issues.
Powers says the campaign has the potential to get nasty, and that in the end that might come back to bite the candidates. He says you need only to look at the treatment of Environment Minister Catherine McKenna who has received insults and death threats for her stance on climate change.
However, if you look to focus groups being done by the parties, Canadians aren’t fond of those tactics and want a more serious, friendly tone.
