Attracting more women to work in the trades has been an ongoing issue, however according to one trades student, we are doing a better job of it.
Victoria Maloney is a first first year Civil Engineering Technology student and the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s.
She says she believes there has been an increase of women wanting to pursue careers in the trades, and notes she has a number of friends who want to become tradeswomen.
Maloney has a simple piece of advice for anyone who wants to give the trades a try: If you like hands-on work and you want to try it go for it, and don’t let anyone try to stop you.
