The province’s first director of the Serious Incident Response Team says it’s a unique opportunity to build something from the ground up.
On the VOCM Morning Show with Fred Hutton and Gerri Lynn Mackey, Mike King says that was the first thing that really attracted him to the job.
He says he also felt it was very important to establish this team in the province. King says the justice system thrives when there is public confidence in the system. Specifically with respect to policing, public confidence is of the utmost importance and the job now allows King to deal with the issue hands on.
There are ten active cases in the province, but King says his priority as of now, is to gather information and assemble a team.
He says with respect to how they deal with those active investigations, it will be done on a case-to-case basis as there are different factors to take into consideration.
