A new partnership is providing exploration and education opportunities to Indigenous youth in the province.
The Students on Ice Foundation and Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Service will charter the Polar Prince icebreaker to travel for education, research, and ocean conservation expeditions.
The Polar Prince is a 67 meter vessel which has served the country for the past 60 years.
Starting in 2022, the foundation will lead expeditions throughout Atlantic Canada and Canadian Arctic with students from across Canada, including Miawpukek Indigenous cadet crew members, learning about both modern science and Indigenous perspectives.
