Expect delays in the area of Avondale this weekend. The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed through Tuesday morning as crews work to replace culverts under the route.
Working in 24-hour shifts, crews will be replacing two 30-year-old pipes with one massive reinforced culvert.
Traffic is being detoured through Avondale and Salmonier Line.
TCH detours at Avondale begin this evening.

Minister Steve Crocker says while it would ideally only add about 20 minutes to one’s commute, you should expect longer delays.
Crocker says it’s unfortunate that there will be traffic issues, but this is the most efficient way to replace the massive large of infrastructure.
While it may be inconvenient, Crocker says it’s important to take care of the repairs now and not find themselves facing a situation where they’re forced to close the highway in less forgiving conditions.
Barring unforeseen issues, the highway is scheduled to reopen to one lane in each direction on Tuesday morning.
