The Justice Minister says the province is among the leaders in the country when it comes to meeting the timelines set by the Jordan decision.
It was revealed earlier this year that some 800 cases were thrown out across Canada for failing to meet the 2016 Supreme Court ruling.
According to the decision, a provincial court case must go to trial within 18 months of charges being laid, and 30 months for Supreme Court cases.
Andrew Parsons says overall, Newfoundland and Labrador has been doing well in meeting the timelines.
He says we’re among the leaders in the country and the number of cases that have been dropped are very low compared to other provinces.
