One driver was ticketed but the other got away after two vehicles were recently caught on radar at high speed near Garden Cove on the Burin Peninsula.

RCMP on patrol on Monday afternoon noticed two vehicles speeding on the highway. Radar readings showed one vehicle at speeds of up to 153 km/h and the second vehicle at 156 km/h.

The lead vehicle was pulled over and the 18-year-old driver was handed a speeding ticket. His licence was suspended and his car was seized an impounded.

The other car sped off, but police say the driver was identified and the investigation continues.
