The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled a brand of infant formula in the province due to being rancid and off-colour.

The federal agency is investigating and has removed Abbott brand Calcilo XD powder from stores.

The formula is the 375 gram size, with UPS code 0 70074 53329 and product code 79696K80.

Parents should not let their baby drink the formula. There have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Ingesting rancid food may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

The CFIA says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
