A 26-year-old man is facing nearly a dozen charges following two separate incidents in the St. John’s area.

At approximately 8:30 on Friday night, the RNC responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Virginia Park.

Officers approached the vehicle and recognized the driver, who placed the car in gear in an attempt to flee the scene.

Officers apprehended the man, who continued to resist arrest, at one point attempting to run while handcuffed.

The man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and resisting arrest.

In addition, the man was also wanted in connection with an incident earlier in the week on charges of assault with a weapon against a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, among others.

He was held to appear in court.
