The MHA for Lake Melville is outlining some of the frustrations adding to the stress experienced by Labradorians dealing with a massive outbreak in the region.
Central Labrador is reeling under a COVID outbreak that has resulted in staffing shortages in a wide variety of essential services.
Friday, news came that the virus had entered the Long Term Care facility in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The outbreak is causing great stress in the region with many essential services reducing hours, or contemplating temporary closure due to staffing shortages.
Perry Trimper says right now, the time between testing and sending the results to the lab in St. John’s for analysis is crippling the region.
Added to the frustration for Labradorians is the fact that the online booking system set up for booster shot appointments is set on island time.
He’s been told people are being turned away for appointments set on island time after showing up “late”.
