The federal government is backing down on a quarantine mandate for unvaccinated, or partially vaccinated, Canadian truckers who cross the US border.
The reversal came late yesterday just a day or so before the quarantine requirements were set to come into effect.
There were serious concerns that the quarantine requirements, even for the small percentage of unvaccinated truckers, would have a serious impact on the supply chain. Executive Director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, Jean-Marc Picard says the decision came as a complete surprise and the details are not yet known.
He calls it good news, and is pleased that Ottawa considered the potential impact.
