A 28-year-old man has been ticketed for operating a child-sized ATV on the Main Highway through Bay Roberts earlier this week.
Bay Roberts RCMP received a report on Tuesday of a grown man driving the tiny quad on the busy four-lane main highway. Police responded but were unable to locate the machine.
The next day an officer inside the detachment noticed the tiny ATV, again being driven by a grown man, passing in front of the building. The man and his little quad were located at a local business and the man was ticketed for driving an ATV on a roadway. The machine was seized and impounded.
RCMP remind the public that child-sized ATVs are not manufactured to be operated by adults. Regardless of the size of the machine, police say driving an ATV on the road is prohibited except where municipal bylaws allowing the practice are in place.
