The FFAW is calling on seafood processing companies to provide a safe workplace to essential workers in the face of the Omicron outbreak.
The union, which represents most shrimp, crab and groundfish processing plants in the province, is calling on all companies to provide employees with adequate PPE—including N95 masks.
FFAW Industrial Director Greg Pretty says thousands of processing workers will be returning to work in a few months time, and they must be protected.
He says many workers have few, or no sick days and ensuring that they are kept safe at work should be the number one priority for companies.
