The number of people in hospital because of COVID-19 is 20, however the total number of people in hospital with the virus is much higher.
Numbers provided by the Department of Health reveal that as of yesterday, the combined number of people in acute care both with and because of COVID-19 is 60, five of whom are in ICU.
Previously, the number of hospitalizations recorded has been those who are admitted with COVID-19.
President of the Registered Nurses Union Yvette Coffey says those numbers hold a significant difference in the workload those in healthcare face.
She says when someone tests positive in an acute or long-term care facility, the entire place goes into lockdown.
Workers then have to suit up in their PPE each time they enter a room, which can significantly slow down operations.
