The Opposition Health critic is appalled by the recent response to a Faces of Fertility member from the province’s Health Minister.
Paul Dinn has been holding government’s feet to the fire on the issue and the added cost to those who must travel out-of-province for fertility treatment.
Dinn says a January 18th letter from John Haggie, who was responding on behalf of Premier Andrew Furey, suggested that the recipient complete a survey on fertility services, nearly three weeks after it had already expired.
The letter came three months after the Faces of Fertility group member wrote the Premier outlining their concerns about fertility services in the province.
Haggie apologized for the delay in his response and indicated that the province is working to increase fertility treatments in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dinn says a way to address the province’s population crisis is by providing IVF services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
