One Bay St. George RCMP officer had an eventful day on the roads Tuesday, seizing no less than three vehicles for various offences.
Shortly before 10 a.m., an officer in Lourdes observed a known prohibited driver operating a truck on the Main Road. The 39-year-old man, who is prohibited from driving Canada-wide due to an impaired driving conviction, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby woods. He returned to the vehicle a short time later and was arrested. The man was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Around 11:30 a.m., the same patrol officer stopped a truck for having a licence plate attached that belonged to another vehicle. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was driving while suspended, and the vehicle was not insured. The man was ticketed for each violation.
Later that day, at around 2:00 p.m. the officer was back in action, stopping a vehicle in Ship Cove because of expired registration. The 83-year-old was driving while suspended, and was ticketed.
All three vehicles were seized and impounded.
