The leader of the Official Opposition is calling for full transparency on talks progressing between the provincial and federal governments regarding the Atlantic Loop project.
David Brazil says details surrounding the project, which would wheel power from Muskrat Falls through Labrador and Quebec and down into New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, have been scarce at best, and the people of the province deserve to know what they are getting into.
Brazil says any deal between governments involving electricity on the Churchill River or transmission assets needs to be discussed publicly, to ensure that Newfoundland and Labrador is the beneficiary.
He is calling on Premier Andrew Furey to make a presentation detailing the Atlantic Loop project, and to be proactive with transparency.
Brazil says the public should be engaged every step of the way through the project.
